Retired AG's officer crushed to death as bus runs over her in Secretariat

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic incident, a senior citizen while crossing the road near Secretariat South Gate was hit and run over by a bus. N Savitri (78), a retired AG’s office accounts officer died in the incident. The accident happened when she was returning after collecting her late husband’s pension from the district treasury. She is a native of Manacaud Kuthukalumoodu.

The accident happened at 11.30 on Wednesday morning. While hastily crossing the road, Savitri stumbled on a divider and fell on the road. The bus that immediately moved forward seeing the green light, ran over her. The haste in which the bus moved forward seeing the green light is said to have caused the accident. Seeing the bus moving forward this early might also have perturbed Savitri, who rushed and slipped on the road. The rear wheel of the bus went over the head, killing her instantly.

Police have filed a case against the driver from Kaniyapuram depot. The dead body is currently kept at Medical College Hospital Mortuary. The body will be cremated in Public Crematorium Muttathara at 12 pm on Thursday.
