Mohanlal congratulates Suresh Gopi, says he is directly aware of his social work

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Mohanlal congratulated actor and BJP MP Suresh Gopi, who took oath as Union Minister. Mohanlal said that he has a long-standing relationship with Suresh Gopi and that this is a very proud moment for the Malayalam film community. Besides Suresh Gopi, he also wished BJP leader George Kurien who is the second BJP leader from Kerala to be sworn in as Union Minister.

"Greetings to my dear friend. I have a long-standing relationship with Suresh Gopi. I am directly aware of the many social activities he has done. This is seen as an acknowledgment of that. Though film stars from South India have become ministers in the past, this is the first time that a person is elected as minister from our midst. This is a proud moment for the Malayalam film community. I am happy with Suresh Gopi's achievement," said Mohanlal.

Apart from actor Mohanlal, many names from the Malayalam film industry came forward to wish Suresh Gopi. Meanwhile, Mohanlal was also invited to the oath-taking ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally called Mohanlal on the phone and invited him to the function. But due to some personal inconvenience, he could not attend the function.

Suresh Gopi took the oath in the name of God in English at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath.
