THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 11th session of the 15th legislative assembly began Monday morning. The opposition raised the issue related to liquor policy in the assembly. MLA Roji M John moved the notice for the adjournment motion. The opposition alleged that despite sabotaging the liquor policy, no investigation was conducted. Roji M John asked why tourism minister is holding meeting on liquor policy.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan gave a letter demanding vigilance investigation. The Speaker's office had demanded that the adjournment motion be dropped, but the opposition did not pay heed to it.
The session started with the question hour. Media has been banned from filming the photo session. Usually, the photo session is after the question hour in the assembly. The Speaker's office informed that the media is not allowed to take pictures and videos of this.
The assembly session is convened from today to July 25. The Kerala Panchayat Raj and Municipalities Act Amendment Bills will be introduced today and sent for scrutiny by the subject committee. V D Satheesan gave the letter to vigilance demanding to register a case and initiate an investigation into the allegations of bribery raised against excise-tourism ministers, officials, bar owners and others in connection with the liquor policy reform. His letter pointed that the tourism department convening the meeting of bar owners online on May 21st with the amendment of liquor policy as agenda, is a proof of conspiracy.
