NEW DELHI: Minister Suresh Gopi has said that Kerala will be made a tourism hub and tourism areas that no one has touched so far will be discovered. He was speaking to the media before taking charge of the Tourism, Petroleum and Natural Gas departments.

'I am undertaking a completely new venture. First I need to study. I know it is a heavy task. After studying everything, should listen to the panel appointed by the prime minister and learn from it. I feel like entering kindergarten. The prime minister has said in the pre-election discussions that Kerala is a premium destination for tourism. In this context, we will discuss with him and make Kerala the tourism hub of India. It will be set within five years," Suresh Gopi said.

"Three or four persons who have worked as Tourism DG from Kerala will be selected for this purpose. Malayalis from the Kerala cadre will be brought. There will be serious discussions. Tourism in Kerala will be booming. Untapped tourism areas will be discovered and promoted," he added.

"Thrissur Pooram will be conducted flawlessly. I will try my best to bring AIIMS to Kerala. The possibility of petroleum exploration in Kollam will be explored," Suresh Gopi said.

"Will talk to Prime Minister and Amit Shah regarding completion of committed films. Will convey my needs. I will seek the support I need. Looking forward to managing both efficiently," he added. Suresh Gopi also said that there will be an office on his cinema set.
