NEW DELHI: Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi has been appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff and will be taking over his appointment on June 30. He would be succeeding Gen Manoj Pande who is set to retire on June 30. Although Manoj Pandey's term had ended last month, it was extended for another month due to the Lok Sabha elections. The nation has honoured Upendra Dwivedi by conferring the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in the Army. During his service period of more than four decades, he has held several important posts, including Director General of Infantry.
