h

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition in the Legislative Assembly said that those who got votes by saying that the welfare pension will be increased to Rs 2500, are not giving what they have and are clinging to the poor. Finance Minister KN Balagopal said that the dues will be paid immediately and everything said will be followed. The opposition finally walked out in protest against the denial of permission for an emergency resolution.

P C Vishnu Nath issued an urgent motion notice saying that the government is gradually withdrawing from the pension schemes. The welfare pension has been delayed for one year. The government said in the High Court that pension is not a right but a help. Vishnu Nath said that the prodigals like Nava Kerala Sadas and Keraleeyam have money.

Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan said that people were cheated by not paying pension despite collecting fuel cess of two rupees each. 'Now it is said that the pension for the months of March, April and May has been paid. But actually the pension was given for the months of October, November and December. Trying not to pay the amount for 3 months. Thousands were denied pensions due to late mustering. Ordinary workers are also asking opposition questions in your district committees. This is what the Chief Minister is asking in the CPM State Committee' - said Satheesan.

Pension not mandatory: Minister

According to the constitution, statutory pension is to be paid according to the financial condition of the government. Minister Balagopal said that it is not mandatory to give. There is arrears of pension for five months. June will be given next week. The LDF government distributed 109 months of pension in the 96 months it came to power. Kerala should get what it deserves by putting pressure on the India front.
