KASARAGOD: The Congress leadership expelled four prominent leaders from the party on the complaint that they attended the wedding reception of the son of the accused in the murder case of Sarath Lal and Kripesh of Periya and insulted the families of the martyrs of Kalliyot.
KPCC General Secretary TU Radhakrishnan announced that KPCC member Balakrishnan Periya, former block president Rajan Periya, and former constituency presidents Pramod Periya and Ramakrishnan Periya have been expelled by K Sudhakaran MP from the primary membership of the party. According to the dismissal order, the inquiry found that participating in the reception with the accused and trying to publicly insult the families of the martyrs after helping to organize the reception is a serious complaint. The investigation also revealed that Balakrishnan Periya defamed the newly elected MP Rajmohan Unnithan through social media.
KPCC-appointed General Secretary Adv PM Niaz and Political Affairs Committee member N Subramanian reached the Kasaragod DCC office at the end of last month and took evidence. The report given by them made serious allegations against the leaders. Rajmohan Unnithan was firm in his position that action should be taken against Balakrishnan Periya and others. The commission of inquiry did not consider the complaints made by Balakrishnan Periya against Unnithan.
