Kerala rains: Idukki native dies after tree falls on car, three injured

IDUKKI: A huge tree fell on top of a car killing one person in the extreme rain that lashed the state on Monday. The incident took place in Neriamangalam at 2:30 pm today. The accident occurred when a tree fell on a KSRTC bus and car. Murikkinthotty native Joseph, who was in the car, died in the incident.

Idukki Rajakumari natives Jobi and his family were in the car during the accident. Joseph is Jobi's father-in-law. Jobi's mother-in-law Annakutty has also been admitted to a hospital in Adimali with injuries while his wife also suffered minor injuries. The car was destroyed in the accident.

The tree first fell on the top of a KSRTC bus that was stationed in the area. Attempts were made to cut the tree and clear the traffic when another tree from a nearby area started tilting towards the road and eventually fell on the top of Jobi’s car.
