THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government ordered departmental action against five police officers, including the ASP, who intervened through unlawful action to protect the SHO who sexually assaulted the accused in a POCSO case. The action was taken based on the report submitted by Rural SP Kiran Narayanan.

According to the report, the officials made changes in the documents, including the investigation report, to protect R Jayasanal, who was the SHO of Ayrioor station. The case is that the Jaysanal had sexually assaulted the accused in the POCSO case after taking him to his quarters. Following this, Jayasanal was sacked from service. The SP's report stated that Additional SP MK Zulfikar, who investigated the case, tried to protect Jayasanal by stating that the crime committed by Jayasanal was not serious.
