THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police on Tuesday night arrested the main culprit involved in the murder of a crusher owner in Kaliyikkavila. It is indicated that he was arrested from Nemom, Thiruvananthapuram. The Tamil Nadu police informed that the suspect is being interrogated in detail. According to reports, the arrested culprit was also involved in two other murder cases and was once the leader of a quotation gang.
The shocking death of Thiruvananthapuram Kaimanam Vivek Nagar native Deepu(45) took place at 10:30 pm on Monday in Padanthalumoodu, Kanyakumari district. The killer also robbed him of Rs 10 lakh. Deepu’s wife and son gave statements to the police about the family facing constant threats due to financial disputes.
Deepu lived with his wife and children in the house that he built in Malayinkeezhu almost 12 years ago. Adjacent to the house he ran a JCB and Hitachi workshop which also included spare parts sales. At 6:30 pm on Monday, Deepu left home in his Mahindra car with a huge sum of money. He informed his wife about picking up a mechanic from Neyyattinkara and another person from Thuckalay.
The car was found on the road 200 meters away from Kaliyikavilai police station in Tamil Nadu on Monday night. The car bonnet was left open while Deepu's foot was resting on the accelerator of the car. Neighbours felt suspicious about an unknown car parked in the area for more than half an hour and later saw a man lying in the driver's seat covered in blood.
After informing the police, the body was shifted to Asaripallam Medical College. The body has been handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
