Iconic music, the perfect placing of flute whistles and the soul-soothing lullabies make Mohan Sithara no less a legendary figure in the Malayalam musical industry. However, there needs to be a debate on whether the iconic Musician received his due appreciation for all his exemplary contributions to the Malayalam musical world.

The ‘Gen Z’ generation is head over heels for the masterly work of Vidyasagar of the early 2000s while songwriter Girish Puthenchery is also worshipped. Many other myriads of superb music directors are also recognized but the name Mohan Sithara is never seen in any of these lists. There are only a paltry few reels on Instagram or in talks mentioning the true worth of this genius music director.

In an interview allowed to Saina South, Mohan Sithara opened up about his life and eventually turned emotional while describing his fall from grace.

Mohan Sithara:

“During my heydays, I used to do eight movies at a time. I brought several vocalists to centre-stage and they all cruised into success. At that point, singers used to call me for a chance and I would keep in mind their request. I made sure to give work to all the singers I brought and assisted them during their novice days.

And now, I am not active in industry and the amount of work coming my way plummeted largely. Now, when I phone these singers, most won’t attend while some ignore it. They all wanted me during my heydays and now I am redundant and would not help them in any way. I was shattered beyond words when some of the singers ignored my phone calls and decided not to call me back again.

Friendship is a myth and circumstantial. The only ones who will be with you during any crisis are our family. Nobody else will come for you and that is the fact of life.”

Mohan Sithara broke into tears midway while revealing this part of his life, and he also stuttered midway while explaining it.

The video interview has gone viral with many empathizing with Mohan Sithara. Some of the comments also appreciated the interviewer’s class act of not interrupting Mohan Sithara while the latter was opening up emotionally.
