Manu Thomas, P Jayarajan engage in bitter war of words, tensions mount in CPM

KANNUR: The CPM went on the defensive on Thursday after a bitter spar of words between former Kannur district committee member Manu Thomas and state committee member P Jayarajan embroiled in cyberspace. CPM was desperately trying to justify Manu Thomas’s decision to leave the party when the melee unfolded on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillenkeri came forward issuing a veiled threat to Manu, for the latter’s guts to challenge the party’s revered name, P Jayarajan. In a retort to these threats, Manu raised an allegation against Jayarajan’s son (Jain Raj) for his alleged involvement in the gold smuggling business. P Jayarajan dismissed the allegation saying that Manu was doing whataboutery to save face from his lackadaisical work for the party during the Lok Sabha elections.

Manu strongly responded, accusing Jayarajan of conducting a covert meeting to discuss forming a new group within the party. He also accused Jayarajan of putting the party in crisis several times and said that people deserve to know the truth.

Akash Thillenkeri in his threat said that it won’t take enough time for Manu to get convinced that his talks against the party were in poor taste. Later, the Red Army Facebook page also came forward against Manu.

There is a growing dissonance in the party regarding a senior state committee member like Jayarajan getting embroiled in a cyber-brawl with a man who was no longer a party member. Manu Thomas alleged that P. Jayarajan's Facebook post against him was a signal for the quotation gang within the party to start work. Manu said that such quotation gangs have eventually turned out to be a headache for the party.
