t20-world-cup

BARBADOS: After losing the ODI World Cup final on their home soil last November, the Indian cricket team is on the verge of another world title as they face South Africa in the T20 World Cup final today in Barbados in West Indies. The match starts at 8 pm Indian time.

South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, reached the final after defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final held on June 27. India, led by Rohit Sharma, reached another final after beating England by 68 runs in the second semi-final despite the match being interrupted by rain. This is the first time that the two teams are meeting in the final of an ICC tournament.

Rain threat

Like the semi-final, the threat of rain looms in the final as well. If rain interrupts play, it will resume on reserve day. If the game is not played on the reserve day too, joint winners will be declared.

The match will be telecasted live on Star Sports and streamed on Hotstar.

After winning the inaugural T20 World Cup held in South Africa in 2007, India is yet to win another T20 World Cup. It is the first time since 2014 that they have reached the final.

This is the first World Cup final for South Africa in any format of the game.
