NEW DELHI: The Indian Railway is planning to introduce bullet trains on busy routes in the country. According to the sources close to the Railway, bullet trains will initially run between Patna and New Delhi. With the introduction of bullet trains, the travel time between Patna and Delhi can be reduced to just three hours. At present, it takes around 17 hours to travel from Patna to New Delhi by train.

Bullet trains will be introduced between Patna and New Delhi as part of the Delhi-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor. After Vande Bharat trains, India's self-built bullet trains will run along high-speed rail corridors. It is reported that the bullet train can travel at a speed of more than 250 km per hour. The bullet trains are also being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.

The work on India's first bullet train project is progressing at a fast pace. The Ministry of Railways had earlier announced that bullet trains with aerodynamic design will start running by 2028.

The introduction of the bullet train on the Patna-New Delhi route will herald a new era in the history of Indian Railways. Beyond mere convenience, it can redefine travel patterns, stimulate economic growth and deepen cultural ties.

The high-speed rail corridor is spread over 1050 km. It covers major cities of Central India. High-speed railways will come into existence by significantly reducing the cost of land acquisition. Railway sources say the significant reduction in travel time will be a major breakthrough.
