KANNUR: Assistant sub inspector, who testified K K Rema MLA for granting relaxation of sentence to Trouser Manoj, the convict in the TP murder case, has been transferred. Sreejith of Kolavalloor station was transferred to Wayanad. The opposition had earlier raised the matter in the assembly. When this sparked a controversy, the move to take action against the policeman started. Sreejith's transfer comes after reports that action will be taken against more policemen in the case of the list of pardons being leaked.

The Koothuparambu SP had the other day questioned Praveen and Shaju, CPOs of Panoor and Chokli stations, in connection with the leak of the list. The preliminary conclusion is that they are behind the leaked list.

Three jail officials, including the superintendent of the Kannur Central Jail, were suspended in connection with the remission controversy. Action was taken against them on the allegation of preparing a wrong list without following the criteria. The incident of testifying Rema came out and stoked a controversy after this.

There has been a move to grant remission of sentence to the accused who directly participated in the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. The Pinarayi government went out of the way when the high court's verdict that these accused should not be given remission of sentence up to 20 years, remained. It sparked a huge controversy when the report surfaced. The opposition is raising allegations that the government is trying to save face by blaming the officials.
