KSEB got additional income of Rs 221.5 cr in 2023-24: Minister Krishnankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Electricity minister K Krishnankutty informed the Legislative Assembly that KSEB has received an additional income of Rs 221.5 crore through the tariff revision in 2023-24. The tariff has been increased four times since May 2016. The board had received an additional income of Rs 550 crores in 2017-18, Rs 902.90 crores in 2019-20 and Rs 760 crores in 2022-23.

KSEB is to receive Rs 2310.70 crores as arrears from various institutions. There are eight small power projects that have not been implemented despite getting approval from the government. The state's domestic electricity generation in 2023-24 is 6504.28 million units. 23,923 million units of electricity were purchased last financial year.

Rs 7.97 crore profit was generated through tourism income from dams. Since 2016, 160 KSEB employees have died in power sector accidents- 63 permanent employees and 97 temporary employees.
