THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Kozhikode Collector and Special Secretary N Prasanth extended his support to the employees in the controversial incident of creating reels inside the Tiruvalla Municipal Corporation office.

N Prasanth’s Facebook post:

"Apart from the rules, let people enjoy the work they do. In my limited knowledge of the law, I don't think it is sinister to make reels on a Sunday at the office. Many employees are made to work on Sundays even after 5 pm, and no law states to do that. Due to the assembly session, many employees have to stay back at work. This trend of extra work is continuing because some higher officials deem it necessary.

We are seeing the shenanigans of some officers during their work time. Many such cases have come up in recent times and shocked us. Compared to that, what the employees in Tiruvalla did was something pleasing to watch and of the highest standard. Malaylees innate traits include jealousy and scorn. This won’t change."

Reels captured by Tiruvalla Municipal Corporation employees doing office work while stepping to the beat of the song 'Poove Poove Palapuve...' went viral on social media. The footage of the employees exchanging files while pretending to sing along to the song was filmed in the reel.

The municipal secretary had issued a show-cause notice to the employees stating that creating reels during office hours was a breach of discipline. The notice warned of disciplinary action if failed to explain in writing within three days.
