Moral policing: Couple who came for photoshoot attacked by brothers; one accused in custody

Amballur: One of the brothers who assaulted a couple who had come for a photoshoot in Olippuram, the confluence of Amballur and Edakkattuvayal panchayats, has been arrested. Haris Babu (33) and his brother Ahim (35) who live in Kalavath house in Kanjiramattam are the people who attacked the couple. Haris Babu was arrested by the police led by Mulanthuruthy SHO Manesh Paulus, produced before the court and remanded. Ahim is absconding.

Police statement about the incident:

Olippuram is a place where many people come to enjoy the natural beauty. Arun Vijayan and his wife Ambili, natives of Thalayolaparambu, who came here on Sunday evening, were assaulted by the drunken brothers pretending to be moral police. A dispute over parking of the couple's vehicle on the road led to the attack.
