Gopinath Muthukad is one of the first names that come to mind when Malayalees hear the word magic. He has such a lovable personality. He had recently given up magic and gotten active in charity work. He was also followed by some controversies in the past. He has often said that he performed magic on a stage for the first time at the age of 10. Now Muthukad is opening up about his first show. He made the revelation while speaking on a platform.
To the words of Gopinath Mutukad...
"I performed magic for the first time at the age of 10. I was born into an economically backward family. I fell in love with magic as a child, listening to the stories my father told me while I was sleeping on his chest. I started learning magic at the age of 7 and I was performing magic for the first time at the age of 10. After three years of training, I am going on stage to perform for the first time.
Being my first show, I had high expectations. My father, mother and family were all present there. The Magic trick I was going to perform involved me cutting a rope in two and rejoining it. I will call someone from the audience and then cut the rope in two. A guy who was taller than me came on stage that day. I was half-finished with his first look. He saw the rope hidden in my little finger for magic. He grabbed my hand forcefully and took out the rope hidden in my hand.
With this, my magic flopped. The audience howled. I ran backstage crying. My father, who was waiting to see the show, came backstage. I hugged my father and said, "Dad I can't do magic". There is a word my father told me that day. That is the best motivation I have heard in my life till today. 'Son, you can't learn a lesson from success. You can only learn from failure'. Not Socrates, not Aristotle, not Plato. It was my illiterate father who taught me the most powerful lesson in life.
