MANANTHAVADY: The Congress filed a complaint against the public prosecutor who appeared for the accused in connection with the death of a three-year-old boy in Wayanad. The boy did not get proper treatment for serious burns. The complaint is against special court public prosecutor Joshy Mundakkal.
The Congress filed a complaint with Law Minister P Rajeev demanding an investigation on his appearance against the government while serving as the public prosecutor. The BJP has also filed a complaint with the director general of prosecution demanding that Joshy Mundakkal be removed from the post.
The incident happened on June 9. The boy sustained serious burns after falling into the bucket of hot water kept for bathing. The seriously burnt child was taken to the hospital in Mananthavady. He was later referred to Kozhikode Medical College. However, the child's father Althaf was not ready to take him there. He approached the traditional medical practitioner George. The police registered a case against the father and George following the death of the boy.
Joshy Mundakkal appeared for the accused and they were granted bail. The Congress filed a complaint demanding action saying that it was unethical to argue against the government as a public prosecutor. It was also alleged that Joshy collected information related to the case from the Panamaram police as a public prosecutor.
