KOCHI: High Court to take strict action against officials who illegally use government seals and boards on vehicles. It was also inquired what action was taken despite the misuse of seals which can only be used by the President, Governor etc. The horn in the vehicles is not meant to hit the ears of the locals. There are vehicles equipped with up to four horns. The division bench consisting of Justice Anil K Narendra and Justice Harishankar Menon said that vehicles that violate the law should not be allowed on the road.
When such vehicles are on the road, the public gets confused and inconvenienced. Customs, Central Excise and Income Tax officials are illegally affixing government seals and boards on vehicles. While in Ernakulam it is the Central Government officials, in Thiruvananthapuram it is the state government secretaries who are violating the law.
Flash light should be used only in emergency situations even in emergency vehicles. All this creates complications in crowded places like Sabarimala. There should be a permanent solution for this. The enforcement officer's report on the fact that Chavara KML MD's vehicle passed through the Aluva flyover with flash lights should be produced when the plea is heard next time.
The station house officer also directed that the modified vehicle driven by Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Tillankeri should be produced before the magistrate for further proceedings. The court was considering a case taken voluntarily in violation of the law in vehicles. It will be considered again on Tuesday.
