Rank list of 524 people but only 21 appointed! PSC rank lists becoming just pieces of paper

Most people will not go abroad to look for a job if they get a good-paying job in their country. Those who leave their families, friends and children and work in other countries will have financial progress but they will have to spend the best time of their lives in isolation in other countries. When they come back to their homeland after an age, even their own country would have become like a foreign country to them. Although the salaries are higher in other countries, the cost of living is also higher. Even if the salary is not very high, you can hold on and carry on life with little joys if you are in your own country.

PSC is the only path for youth to get a government job in our state. Getting into the PSC rank list is something that requires a lot of effort. But now, the situation is that even if one makes his way into the rank list, there is no guarantee of getting a job. No department reports vacancies on time. They even forget the fact that before sitting in big chairs in their respective department, they too were unemployed. Left youth organizations, which had been clamouring for expediting the appointment of PSC, are now largely silent. That is because, among the one and a half lakh people who have received contract appointments, there are party supporters and members of youth organizations as well. The situation is that there are only those whose names are on the list to speak up for those on the list.

The validity of PSC rank lists is usually three years. When there is a strike and commotion, the government will extend it for six months. However, the reality is that no significant recruitment has been done from various rank lists. Only three months are left for the expiry of the Police Telecommunication Rank List. Only 21 people have been appointed from the rank list of 524 people! They should be appointed more in this era of increasing cyber crimes. However, the police department still follows the same staffing pattern as when the unit was formed in 1974. Most of the crimes are being caught now by tracking the location of the mobile phone. Therefore, the telecommunication department of the police should be expanded to employ more people.

This is the only category in Kerala Police where recruitment is done on the basis of technical qualification. In view of the rise in cyber crimes, the DGP had recommended to the government for 652 posts of two telecommunication officers in all police stations. This file is the life of not one, but many. If the government keeps repeating the issue of financial crisis again and again, the curse of such files which will help many people to get jobs, will not be lifted. The Chief Minister, who is also in charge of the Home Department, should immediately intervene in this matter. The job of the police is not only to fire water cannons and chase away protestors with lathis and provide VIP security. The efficiency of the police will increase in a way that the people will understand only when those who have learned to work in cyber become a part of this department.
