Another setback for Governor Arif Mohammed Khan; High Court blocks formation of search committees in three universities

KOCHI: The High Court has stayed Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's action to form a search committee for the appointment of VCs in three universities. The High Court stayed the process of constituting a search committee for Kerala, MG and Malayalam Universities. The action is on the government's petition against the formation of the search committee. With this, the High Court has blocked the formation of search committees in four universities. The High Court had also blocked the appointment of the Kerala Technical University search committee.

The government had filed a petition against the formation of a search committee without university representatives with only representatives of the UGC and the Chancellor. Former Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University Dr. KRS Sambasiva Rao, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Director Dr. C. Anandakrishnan, Karnataka Central University Vice Chancellor Prof. Battu Satyanarayana, ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somnath and MG University's and Central University's former Vice Chancellor Dr. Jhansi James were members of the search committee in MG.
