THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman, who fell unconscious after administered a wrong injection in Neyyattinkara taluk hospital, died Sunday morning. The dead is Krishnapriya (28) of Sarath Bhavan in Neyyattinkara. She died while undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital.
The police had earlier registered a case following her family's complaint against doctor Vinu of the surgery department in the hospital, over the incident. Her relatives alleged that Krishnapriya had allergies and asthma and the injection was given without considering it.
The incident happened on Monday. Krishnapriya sought treatment at Thycaud Hospital and then at Malayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital following severe abdominal pain. A kidney stone was found during a scan at the Thycaud Hospital. Her condition was critical and they directed her to see a surgeon immediately.
Her relatives reached Neyyattinkara General Hospital and met the surgeon in the OP. She was admitted after tests were conducted. The complaint is that the injection was given when her relative, who accompanied her went to the lab with her blood and urine, for further tests. She was admitted to the medical college after she fell unconscious.
Meantime, the hospital authorities said that neither the girl nor her relatives mentioned that she was allergic. She was given a drip and the problem arose after this. The allegation that she was given an injection is not true. The hospital sources said that she was sent to the medical college in an ambulance equipped with a ventilator. The doctors said that her health condition is being constantly monitored.
