BENGALURU: Army with new confirmation regarding the search for Kozhikode native Arjun, who went missing along with a lorry in the landslide on the national highway in Shirur. The army confirmed that Arjun and the lorry were not under the debris on land. The Karnataka Revenue Minister had confirmed the other day that 90 percent of the debris at the accident site had been removed and there was no lorry there. The army has now concluded that the lorry may have fallen into the river Gangavali due to the landslide. The army also informs that a signal has been received from the river bank. This area is being marked and inspected.
The army had earlier hinted that the lorry was under the debris and clarified that a signal had been received from the radar inspection conducted at two places, which could have been a fake signal. The removal of soil from these areas was also accelerated.
Uttara Kannada District Collector Lakshmi Priya had earlier told the media that there is a 99 percent chance of the lorry not being on land. The vehicle is likely to be in the Gangavali river. The collector also said that the footage of the accident site ten minutes before the landslide will be available today.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Police said that only 20 people from Kerala are enough to search for Arjun. During the search, there was an argument between the Malayali rescue workers and the Karnataka police. It was suggested that 20 people from Kerala are sufficient as the search is happening simultaneously. It is reported that the dispute has now been resolved.
