One month’s wage for new employees, to benefit 210 lakh youths, move to increase women’s participation in work places

NEW DELHI: The first budget of the third Modi government announced special schemes for the youth of the country. The minister also said the government will give one month's salary to all new employees entering the workforce. The amount will be provided to the employees as Provident Fund (PF) contribution. It will benefit 210 lakh youths.

This applies to all areas. Eligibility for this scheme depends on being enrolled in EPFO. An amount up to Rs 15,000 will be directly deposited into the account in three installments. Those who are getting salary up to Rs 1 lakh per month are eligible. Also, Nirmala Sitharaman added that the participation of women in the employment sectors will be increased and special skill courses and hostel facilities will be set up for that purpose.


The minister said the Modi government is committed to work for the welfare of all citizens of India irrespective of religion, caste and gender. Nirmala Sitharaman stated that this year's budget is focused on the poor, women, farmers and youth of the country.
