THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a new press release, Health Minister Veena George said four more people tested negative for Nipah on Saturday. However today, seven people sought treatment after showing symptoms of the disease.

Minister Veena George participated online in the Nipah review meeting at Malappuram Collectorate. Currently, there are 472 people in the contact list of which 220 are in the high-risk category. The minister informed that psychological counselling has been provided to 836 people so far.

Meanwhile, District Medical Officer Dr L Anithakumari warned about the need for precautions in the district if the Nipah outbreak gets confirmed. Bat droppings, urine, and other bodily fluids of these mammals should be kept away from water sources such as wells.
