WAYANAD: The Electricity Department said that the power supply has been restored in all areas except for 7 transformers (serving around 1400 consumers) in the disaster-affected area in Meppadi by the evening.

Around three kilometres of high-tension lines and eight kilometres of low-tension lines falling under the Meppadi electrical section were completely damaged in Chooralmala and Mundakkai landslides. Two transformers were washed away, and three transformers sustained total damage in the landslide. Severe damage has been found on the lines in two transformer ranges. The power supply to around 450 homes has been cut off.

KSEB has not been able to go to the disaster-affected region to assess the damage or start power restoration operations as an important bridge and roads in the landslide area were washed away and rescue operations are underway. However, power supply has been restored up to the area near the disaster site in Meppadi.
