Stars extend helping hand to Wayanad; Suriya, Karthi and Jyotika donate 50 lakh; Rashmika donates 10 lakh

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More film stars have come out extending a helping hand to the families affected by landslides in Wayanad. Prominent film stars Suriya, Karthi, Jyothika and Rashmika Mandana have now pledged financial support for the relief efforts. Suriya, Karthi and Jyotika together donated Rs 50 lakhs to the Chief Minister's distress relief fund, while actress Rashmika Mandanna provided financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to those affected by the landslides. Earlier, actor Vikram had donated Rs 20 lakh to the CM's relief fund.

Taking to social media, Suriya stated that he was heartbroken on hearing the news of the Wayanad landslides.

'Wayanad Landslide my thoughts and prayers with the families.. Heartbreaking..! Respects to all members of Government agencies and people on the field helping the families with rescue operations,' Suriya wrote on X.

Yesterday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that several prominent personalities were donating money to the CM's distress relief fund.

"Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuff Ali, prominent businessman Ravi Pillai and Kalyan Jewellers owner Kalyana Raman have announced financial assistance of Rs 5 crore each. Adani Group has also promised financial assistance of Rs 5 crore. KSFE gave Rs 5 crore, Canara Bank Rs 1 crore, KMML Rs 50 lakh, Women Development Corporation Rs 30 lakh and Aushadhi Chairperson Shobhana George Rs 10 lakh," the CM said.
