THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala said that this is the time when everyone should stand united in the wake of the Wayanad disaster. He also said that he took the right stand by deciding to donate one month's salary to the Chief Minister's distress relief fund.

"This is the time when everyone should stand united to help the people who were affected by the landslides. Congressmen should stand united and donate money to the CM's relief fund," Chennithala said.

Chennithala also responded to the statement made by KPCC president K Sudhakaran.

"Sudhakaran had called me on the phone. He told me that he did not say anything against me. I believe him. There is no difference of opinion in Congress. Everyone is united when it comes to disaster. There is no need to see politics in anything. We have opposed the diversion and misappropriation of money from the relief fund in the past. We had even filed a case in the Lokayukta. We will strongly protest if the government diverts and misuses the fund in the future. But this is not the time for it. The party will do what it has to do," Chennithala said.
