KALPETTA: District collector DR Meghasree has said that it is a false rumour that rescue workers in Chooralmala and Mundakkai are not getting food. The food they need every day is cooked and delivered accurately. The Collector informed that volunteers and outsiders are not allowed to cook food and distribute it directly.
The food delivered at the collection point is also properly distributed. The food is distributed after inspection by the officials of the Food Safety Department. This arrangement is to prevent the distribution of stale and substandard food. Special officers are also appointed to supervise the preparation and distribution of food.
The revenue department officials and the fire force are distributing food to those involved in the rescue mission under the leadership of the District Food Safety Officer. Today (August 4), 1300 volunteers from various forces and 1705 volunteers in 188 teams were in the rescue mission in six zones, namely, Punchiri Mattam- 149, Mundakkai- 125, School area- 723, Chooralmala Town- 186, Village Area- 75, and River valley- 42.
Breakfast for 3600 people and lunch for 5500 people were delivered for them. Four jeeps and one mini lorry were used to bring enough water. Food was delivered to each zone in separate vehicles. The collector stated that the food prepared in the community kitchen set up in Meppadi Polytechnic College and the food brought to the collection points by various voluntary organizations etc. were distributed.
