THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Woman doctor has been remanded in police custody for four days in connection with the shooting of an NHM PRO under the pretence of delivering a courier. The Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court issued the remand order.

Police have announced plans to take the accused to Ernakulam and Kollam to gather evidence. The airgun used in the incident has not yet been found, prompting an intensified investigation. The accused had informed the police that the gun was kept in her quarters, which have since been locked and sealed by authorities. The suspect will be taken to the quarters for the gun to be seized.

The accused will be taken to an establishment in Ernakulam where a fake number plate for the car used in the shooting was allegedly made. Yesterday, the police brought the accused to Ayur in Kollam and seized the car involved in the incident. The car, which belongs to the accused’s father-in-law, was seized from her husband’s house and is currently being held at Vanchiyoor station.

The incident occurred on July 28, when Shini, a resident of Pankaj in Perunthanni post office line, Chembakassery, West Fort, was shot. The investigation team stated that the accused confessed to the crime during a one-and-a-half-hour interrogation at Kollam Medical College.

The accused revealed to the police her relationship with Shini's husband, Sujith and the emotional distress caused by his neglect. She stated that she had planned the shooting for a year, intending to convey her suffering to Sujith rather than to kill. She also mentioned that the immediate execution of the plan was triggered by the severe neglect she faced during a trip to the Maldives with Sujith a month and a half ago.
