Youth arrested for trafficking six youths of Kochi to Laos

KOCHI: A youth was arrested in a human trafficking case. The youth identified as Afzar Ashraf of Palluruthy was arrested for taking the job seeking youths abroad and selling them to a Chinese company. The accused sold six youths from Palluruthy to a Chinese company in Laos. The police have also registered a case against the employees of the Chinese company who committed illegal activities online by threatening the youths.

Afzar approached the six youths of Palluruthy offering them jobs in Laos. After accepting Rs 50,000 each from them, brought them to Laos. Afsar sold the youths to Ying Long, a Chinese company that runs online scams. He sold them for Rs 4 lakh per person. The company used the youths for illegal activities after making them sign papers with conditions written in Chinese in the name of employment contracts. The company also seized their passports.

The youths were then forced to commit financial frauds online. After contacting Indians through chatting apps, the company extorted money in the name of online trading. Afzar Ashraf was arrested on the complaint filed by one of the youths who had escaped and returned home. Police said there are more people in the group. The search for them is on. The police have registered a case against some of the employees including Song and Boni of the Chinese company.
