THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rain is likely to intensify in Kerala from Saturday onwards. The IMD predicted that isolated places in the Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram districts will receive very heavy rainfall on Saturday. Following the rain warning, a yellow alert was issued for these districts on Saturday.

The National Oceanographic Research Centre has informed that the coasts of Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to experience 1.4 to 1.6 meter high waves and a kallakkadal phenomenon till 11.30 pm on Friday. Fishermen and people living in the coastal regions have been advised to exercise caution.
