'All it took was three weeks, scary'; friends express shock in RJ Lavanya's death

Most people in the radio jockey milieu are not yet completely out from the shock induced by popular RJ Lavanya’s death news. Lavanya used to update the happenings in her life on her social media accounts and the last she posted was two weeks before getting admitted into hospital. She posted a photo of her with the caption” This time too shall pass”. The Dubai-based RJ was undergoing treatment for cancer for some time. She seldom revealed news related to her treatment on social media and it ended up devastating for people who had no idea about her disease.

Popular RJs including RJ Aman, singer Jassie Gift, actor Veena Nair and a bevvy of other stars expressed shock at Lavanya’s death.

“You gave me the name Aman. Thank you for everything, Lavanya. It’s a request to people to do a full body checkup at least once a year. It just took three weeks for Lavanya to leave this world, only because she diagnosed it late. “RJ Aman quoted.

Singer Jassie Gift expressed condolence and remembered Lavanya as one of his best friends.

Lavanya became a favourite RJ of the Malayalee diaspora in Dubai through Radio Keralam's programmes such as Vellithira, Priyaneram Priyageetham, DRK on Demand and Khana Peena.

Lavanya's husband is Carnatic musician and music director Ajith Prasad (Navaneet Varma). Father: Late Somasundaram, mother: Sasikala. Lavanya has two children- Vasundhara and Vihayas. The funeral will take place at Santhi Kavadam in Thiruvananthapuram at noon on Wednesday. She was 41 years old. Lavanya breathed her last Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment for cancer.
