KOZHIKODE: Diving expert Eshwar Malpe will call on the family of Arjun, who went missing in the landslide in Shirur, today. He will visit the family at their house at Kannadikkal in Kozhikode. Malpe had searched for Arjun in the Gangavali river several times following the demand of Arjun’s family. Though the lorry’s hydraulic jack and rope were found, there are no hints of Arjun.
The search has been temporarily suspended. It is in this situation Malpe is visiting Arjun’s family. It is assessed that the search is not possible without bringing a dredger from Goa. The main obstacle to the search is the soil that is deposited on the river bed. There is uncertainty in bringing the dredger. It is estimated that the cost for bringing the dredger will be around Rs one crore.
Arjun went missing in the landslide on July 16 in Karnataka. Apart from Arjun, Lokesh and Jagannath, natives of Karnataka, are also missing. Malpe resumed the search in the river on August 13. The Uttara Kannada district administration decided to temporarily suspend the search from August 16.
