hema-committee

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Hema Committee report released the other day has recommended legal action. A case can be filed for insulting womanhood. The recommendation was in the part which was not revealed considering privacy.

Many actresses have narrated their ordeals. An actress has told the commission members that when she told her colleagues that a director had misbehaved with her, their response was to cooperate and move on.

Another actress also shared her experience of having to act as the wife of the abuser actor the next day. These are the witness statements. Considering all this, it is said that a case can be filed under IPC 354. The actresses had also stated that there was sexual exploitation against them in the name of foreign shows. It is reported that the names of main actors are in the report. If a case is filed, they may land in trouble.

Minister Saji Cherian had responded yesterday that he has not received any complaint about the harassment from any actress and how can a case be filed without a complaint. He said that he has been minister for three and a half years and not a single actress has filed a complaint and the government has decided to convene the conclave within two months.
