KOCHI: Former excise official revealed that he has direct knowledge of some of the things mentioned in the Hema Committee report on the use of drugs. The revelation was by ex-assistant excise commissioner P S Sasikumar. Sasikumar was also the investigating officer in the drug case in which actor Shine Tom Chacko was arraigned 10 years ago.

Shine Tom Chacko's case was the first cocaine case in Kerala. The excise at that time got the evidence that film actors were using drugs. Sasikumar said that while questioning why drugs are used in many cases, their answer is that expensive drugs are supplied to the film industry.

Came to understand that many use drugs on film sets and they have contact with the drug peddlers. The investigation could not continue due to various reasons. Sasikumar said the superstition of many in the industry is that creativity requires drugs. He also revealed that it was led by second grade film actors.
