THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister KB Ganesh Kumar has accused the media of harassing him. "Don't hound me like this. The media has been hounding me for the past 25 years. I have no medicinal properties," the minister told the media.
Ganesh Kumar's reply to the questions related to the allegations regarding the Hema Committee report was that he is not willing to respond on any issue at present. "It is the Minister of Culture who has to respond to the issue. They have already made it clear. I am the Minister of Transport Department," Ganesh Kumar said.
Meanwhile, the government has appointed a seven-member investigation team, including four women officials, to investigate the Hema Committee report and the allegations made by women in the film industry. The decision was taken based on the discussion held by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with top police officials. The allegations against actor Siddique and director Ranjith are mainly being investigated.
The team headed by IG Sparjan Kumar includes DIG S Ajitha Begum, AIG G Poonkuzhali, SP Merin Joseph, Aishwarya Donkre, Madhusudhanan and V Ajith. Case will not be filed on the Hema Committee report, but those who have made the allegations may testify before the investigation team. The case may be filed if they stick to the complaint. Anyone who has a complaint related to sexual exploitation in the film industry can approach the investigation team.
The investigation team will examine the matter related to the new disclosure. Meanwhile, there will be no inquiry now in the cases where the atrocities were revealed before the Hema Committee. The decision is because the matter is under the consideration of the High Court. Earlier, director Ranjith had resigned as the chairman of the film academy in the wake of Bengali actress Srilekha Mitra's revelations. Srilekha Mitra filed a complaint against Ranjith after the Hema Committee report came out.
