COIMBATORE: Four employees including two teachers of a government college in Valparai were arrested for sexually abusing female students. The Valparai all- woman police arrested college assistant professors S Sathish Kumar (39), M Muraliraj (33), lab technician A Anbarasu (37) and skill course trainer N Rajapandi (37).
The complaint was that the four sexually assaulted six female students of the college. The students first complained to the state women's commission that they faced various forms of violence from the accused. District Social Welfare Officer R Ambika and Collegiate Education Regional Joint Director V Kalaiselvi visited the college on Friday and conducted an investigation. The students explained the contents of the complaint in front of them. With this, the complaint was forwarded to the police and the accused were arrested.
The accused used to regularly send obscene messages to female students through WhatsApp. Even after class time, the accused used to ask them to stay back. They then misbehaved with them and abused them physically. Their complaint said that they touched their bodies in a bad way in the class and in the lab. The arrested persons were produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
