CHENNAI: The first public meeting of Tamilagga Vettri Kazhaggam (TVK) led by actor Vijay will be convened on September 23 in Villupuram. It is heard that senior leaders from major parties such as DMK, AIADMK, BJP, Congress, and prominent figures from the film industry are likely to attend the conference.
Reports said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to attend the conference on Vijay’s invitation. If so, it will be the first time in 10 years that the duo will be sharing a public venue together. According to close sources, Vijay is making extensive efforts to ensure Rahul Gandhi's participation in the event.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had participated in the formation of 'Makkal Needhi Maiam' led by actor Kamal Haasan. TVK is trying to bring the chief ministers closely related to Vijay to the conference.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will also be invited to the conference. Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar are also likely to be invited.
There were allegations earlier that Vijay formed the political party on the advice of Rahul Gandhi. Vijay, who had a close friendship with Rahul, was ready to join the Congress in 2009, but later abandoned it.
