THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that Onam celebrations may be disrupted by widespread rainfall across Kerala over the next week due to a low-pressure system. A yellow alert has been issued for six districts today and seven districts tomorrow, signaling the potential for heavy rain throughout the state.

The low pressure over North Bay of Bengal has turned into a strong depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and central Bay of Bengal. The low pressure moving northward is likely to intensify into a low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal, West Bengal, north Odisha and near the coast from today. It is also likely to move to West Bengal, North Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh region in the next three days. According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places from September 7 to 9.

Yellow alert has been announced in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod today and tomorrow in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
