KOCHI: KSRTC's door-to-door service project to speed up couriers will start this year. The fare will depend on the distance to each location while the courier's weight will also be a factor in determining the rates. The service will be cost-effective compared to other courier companies.

The delivery staff will collect the items and will bring them to depots. Contract staff may also be considered for home delivery. Goods can be delivered cheaply as KSRTC service is available even in outskirt villages.

At present, KSRTC has a courier service, but it requires people to reach depots to take hold of their belongings. Presently, KSRTC runs a courier service from Bengaluru, but this has been facing roadblocks due to the differences with Karnataka RTC.

According to the KSRTC officials, the goal is to generate an income of five lakh rupees per day through the logistics service. Currently, KSRTC is getting Rs 2 lakh per day through the courier service. There are days when KSRTC bring to coffers Rs 2.5 lakh. Officials also said that logistics revenue will reach Rs 50 lakh this month.
