PALA: Pala Moonnilavu native Jinson Anto Charls is all set to be the first Indian to become a minister in Australia. He is the eldest son of Charls, the brother of Anto Antony MP.
Jinson won the election from the Sanderson constituency in the Northern Territory state on a Liberal Party ticket. He defeated Kate Worden, the Labor Party representative and former Home Minister. Following his victory, Jinson has been allocated the ministerial portfolios of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Youth Welfare.
Jinson Anto Charls arrived in Australia in 2011 as a nurse. He served as the Director of Top End Mental Health for the Northern Territory government and as a lecturer at Charles Darwin University. He is also the former President of the Malayalee Association.
His wife Anupriya, a native of Chalakudy, works as a Clinical Consultant at Top End Mental Health. The couple has two children- Amy Caitlin Jinson and Anna Isabel Jinson.
Anto Antony MP, who arrived at Jinson's house in Moonnilavu, called and congratulated Jinson over the phone. Family members gathered and celebrated by cutting a cake.
