THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP M R Ajith Kumar's meeting with top RSS leader Ram Madhav at Kovalam was accompanied by a close relative of the chief minister. ADGP was accompanied by an RSS leader from the capital and another person. This is believed to be the reason why the government is under pressure from not being able to remove Ajith Kumar, who is facing serious allegations, from law and order duties.

According to intelligence reports, the ADGP had no need to go for the meeting with the chief minister's relative and that the meeting with the RSS leader was mysterious. The meeting took place when Ram Madhav arrived at an English media conclave. The mysterious visit of the ADGP along with the chief minister's relative is putting the chief minister on the defensive.

The meeting with Ram Madhav in Kovalam took place on June 2, 2023, after ADGP M R Ajith Kumar met Dattatreya Hosabale, the second-in-command of the RSS leadership, in Thrissur on May 23, 2023. Police chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib and intelligence chief Manoj Abraham, who met the chief minister at the secretariat office today, apprised the chief minister of the details of this mysterious meeting. It is learnt that the Chief Minister had directed the DGP to investigate the RSS meeting. The DGP has collected intelligence reports in this regard.

The DGP is investigating in detail about the disruption of Thrissur Pooram. Ajith is on leave for four days from June 14. The government is likely to ask the ADGP to extend it. ADGP H Venkatesh will be in charge instead.

Crisis faced by Government

  1. If Ajith Kumar is removed immediately, it will be tantamount to substantiating the allegations.
  2. There are apprehensions that the allegations will extend to the chief minister's office.
  3. Assessment that more people are likely to come forward with complaints
  4. The DGP had recommended Ajith's removal four times, but the chief minister did not accept it.
  5. The recommendation to remove Ajith as part of the investigation was also rejected.
  6. The government is of the view that a decision can be taken after going through the investigation reports.

Dissatisfaction in LDF

  • The opposition is intensifying the protest alleging that the government is protecting Ajith.
  • Discontent is spreading in the CPM and the Left Front for not removing Ajith.
