ALAPPUZHA: The body found buried near a house adjacent to the Korthussery temple in Mararikulam has been identified as that of Subhadra (73), who went missing from Kadavanthra. Her son, Radhakrishnan, has identified the body. Kattoor native Mathew and his wife Sharmila, who were living in a rented house in the compound, are missing. Subhadra used to regularly visit them. Subhadra, who used to visit temples in distant places, went missing on August 4th. The police found the body during the investigation into the complaint filed by her son, Radhakrishnan. Subhadra's family had not received any information about her after 8:30 pm on the 4th. The police investigation, which focused on her mobile phone, revealed that Subhadra had last arrived in Kalavoor.
Subhadra's body will be shifted to the mortuary of Alappuzha Medical College. Samples of her internal organs will also be collected. The body was found during an investigation conducted with the help of a police dog. It is said that Subhadra used to travel with the missing couple. According to available information, a dispute had broken out between Subhadra and the couple after the couple allegedly stole her gold ornaments. After a few days, they again became close. It is indicated that the couple called Subhadra to the house in Kalavoor, killed her, and stole the remaining gold ornaments.
CCTV footage from a neighbouring house confirms that Subhadra had indeed arrived at the house in Korthussery. On August 7, a labourer in Korthussery was asked to dig a pit here. The inspection in the area was conducted based on the statement given by this labourer.
