THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Efforts are being taken in the CPM to put an end to the allegations raised by P V Anwar MLA against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar and the subsequent controversies as soon as possible. The party is trying to turn the controversies into closed chapters as they have significantly tarnished the image of the government.
Reports said CPM moving very cautiously in the matter, will mainly take steps to prevent further accusations from Anwar. However, how successful it will be remains to be seen. Ajith Kumar may be relieved from the duties of law and order to cool down Anwar. Along with that, there will be an investigation against him. Reports said that such a formula has been put forward by the party.
The main section of the party also thinks that the accusations levelled by Anwar is true. Therefore, they are demanding a significant intervention in the matters raised by Anwar. It is reported that the party centers have informed Anwar that strong action will be taken if clear evidence is found for the allegations levelled on smuggling gold and quotation etc. Meanwhile, Anwar has come forward with more allegations against Ajith Kumar. It is also suspected that Arwar's move is to reject the formula and go forward with the disclosures.
Meantime, the CPI has decided to strongly raise the incident of M R Ajith Kumar, a confidant of the chief minister, meeting the RSS leaders in today's LDF meeting. The CPI has decided not to compromise in this matter after the central leadership of the party took a strong stand against the meeting.
They will demand that he be removed from law-and-order duties and that strong action be taken. The Speaker's stand that there is nothing wrong with meeting the RSS leader has also angered the CPI. If there is no decision in their favour, the party may take a stand on matters including leaving the front. A general feeling has already emerged in the CPI that it is better to leave than hang on to the Left Front. This is what motivating the leadership for strong open stands.
The CPI believes that Ajith Kumar intervened and disrupted Pooram to defeat Sunil Kumar in Thrissur, their prestige seat, and allowed Suresh Gopi to win the seat. The CPI firmly believed that Sunil Kumar would win the constituency. The CPI sees it as an unforgivable mistake to have used the RSS to defeat their own candidate. Other parties are also unhappy with the current course of action on the front. If they also toughen their stance, CPM and the government will be in more trouble.
However, today's cabinet meeting did not discuss the matter of replacing Ajith Kumar. This was not in the agenda of the meeting. CPI ministers also did not raise this issue.
