THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, managed by the Adani Group, recorded a huge surge in passenger traffic during the Onam season. A total of 2.36 lakh passengers travelled through Thiruvananthapuram Airport between September 1 and 17, marking a 14% increase from last year's 2.07 lakh passengers during the same period. 1.23 lakh domestic passengers and 1.12 lakh international passengers travelled through the airport. Additional staff were deployed at the airport to ensure smooth services during the Onam rush. The airport also organized a 10-day Onam celebration and shopping festival, 'Awesome Onam,' for passengers and staff.
The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport witnessed a significant surge in passenger traffic and Air Traffic Movements (ATM) in the first quarter (April-June) of the 2024-25 financial year. Over 12.6 lakh passengers travelled through the airport in three months. Average monthly footfall went past 4 lakh. The passenger count stood at 10.36 lakh in the first quarter of the 2023-24 financial year. This time, it has increased by over 2 lakh passengers. Out of the total passengers, 6.61 lakh (661,000) were domestic travellers and 5.98 lakh (598,000) were international travellers.
During the first quarter of 2024-25, Thiruvananthapuram Airport recorded 7,954 air traffic movements, marking a 14% increase from last year's 6,887 movements during the same period. Sharjah emerged as the top international destination, while Bengaluru leads the list of domestic destinations, for travellers from Thiruvananthapuram Airport.
