THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George announced today that one more person has tested negative for Nipah, bringing the total number of negative test results to 37. The update follows a high-level meeting led by the Minister to assess the current situation.
Two new individuals have been added to the contact list, both categorized as high-risk. The overall contact list now includes 177 primary contacts and 90 secondary contacts. Of the 177 primary contacts, 134 are considered high-risk. Among the healthcare workers on the list, 81 have been identified as having had direct exposure.
Two people exhibiting symptoms have been admitted to Mancheri Medical College Hospital today, bringing the total number of patients there to six. An additional 21 people are under observation at Perinthalmanna MES Medical College Hospital.
In an effort to provide comprehensive care, psychological support has been extended to those on the contact list. A total of 265 individuals, including 40 today, have received mental health assistance through a dedicated call center.
Preventive measures are ongoing, with a field survey completed in the Mampad, Thiruvali and Vandur panchayats. So far, 7,953 households have been surveyed and 175 cases of fever were reported during the process.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, focusing on both medical and mental health support for those affected.
