THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a qualitative turn of events, the Chief Minister ordered an inquiry by Superintendent of Police Sheikh Darvesh Sahib against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, who met two top RSS leaders in Thrissur and Kovalam.
If found to have misused his official position and violated the code of conduct, M R Ajith Kumar will be moved from law and order duties. The Chief Minister summoned the DGP to his office to announce the inquiry.
The DGP's team investigating PV Anwar MLA's allegations will take over this investigation. The police have sent a notice to RSS leader Kaimanam Jayakumar, who allegedly played the intermediary in ADGP’s meeting with RSS leaders. Those who are suspected to have taken part in the Kovalam meeting will be summoned.
ADGP met RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale in Thrissur and leader Ram Madhav at Kovalam. It was opposition leader V D Satheesan who revealed ADGP’s meeting with Hosabale. The ADGP in his explanation to the Chief Minister termed the meeting in Thrissur as personal.
Intelligence found that the meetings have a mediating nature, apart from political and personal goals. It is also indicated that the meeting in Thrissur was to provide information on Kerala to the UP-based agency that prepared BJP's political strategies for the parliamentary elections. It is also indicated that the ADGP tried for the President's Police Medal which was earlier denied to him despite being recommended six times.
The meeting in Thrissur was during the RSS camp at Paramekkavu Vidyamandir. ADGP travelled in the RSS leader's car, leaving behind his official vehicle in a hotel.
